More than 16 thousand megawatts/hour (MW/h) from the three solar parks that operate in Ciego de Ávila received the National Electric System (SEN) during 2023, a contribution that, although still insufficient, is clean and without pollution, representing more than 13 thousand tons of carbon dioxide stopped being emitted into the atmosphere.

The delivery of these three photovoltaic generating centers to the SEN in total was 16,372.35 MW/h, which also translates into 4,256.79 tons of fuel that were not used for this purpose.

Mario Toledo Carrasco, director of the Base Business Unit of Renewable Energy Sources belonging to the Ciego de Ávila Electric Company, explained to the Cuban News Agency that the parks were at full capacity of their installed power during 2023.

He pointed out that the generation plans each year are not higher but rather lower, because the parks depreciate a little more than one percent in 12 months as they are designed for a quarter of a century of exploitation, hence they comply with all the measures planned so that On the technical side, no effects occur on them.

The commissioning of the first began in August 2017, the second in March 2018 and the third in January 2019, and between them they have an installed power of 11.6 megawatts, a figure that will grow after March, because it is already being assembled a fourth location in the municipality of Morón with four more megawatts, and another 20 is planned in the capital city in the coming months, Toledo Carrasco said.
