After intense days of work that lasted until late into the night, workers from the Cuito Cuanavale Hydraulic Works Maintenance and Rehabilitation Company completed the undergrounding of three kilometers (km) of pipes from the Turiguanó-La Bandera drinking water pipeline. , which supplies the northern keys.

Edwin González González, delegate of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources in Ciego de Ávila, recognized in his social network account on the causeway towards the tourist destination Jardines del Rey and allows it to increase its use value.

Another post on the same social network reports that Division General Ramón Pardo Guerra, Chief of the National General Staff of the Civil Defense and the highest authorities of the territory, Julio Gómez Casanova and Alfre Menéndez Pérez, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party and governor, respectively, were present at the beginning of the work, with which the 500-millimeter (mm) diameter fiberglass-reinforced ducts were replaced with 800-mm high-density polyethylene pipes, manufactured by the Ciegoplast company in Avignon. .

The Isla de Turiguanó-La Bandera drinking water pipeline, 27.4 km long, valued at 188 million pesos, is decisive in the final hydraulic infrastructure of the tourist destination Jardines del Rey and will double the flow that reaches the islets of the north of the province.

Previously, the change of pipes had been carried out on 6.5 km, a section in which a new bypass (detour in the pipe line) was also included, with a larger diameter, to enable the direct circulation of water from the stations. Patria III and Los Satos pumping to La Bandera, south of Cayo Coco.

Once completed, the work will be able to respond to the demand for water required by the facilities conceived in the development master plan of the enclave, formed by the Guillermo, Coco, Paredón Grande and Antón Chico keys.

The destination, one of the most prominent in the country, currently has 28 hotel facilities and some 24,000 rooms.
