Dr. Estrella Bernal Guevara, Municipal Advisor of the Non-communicable Diseases Program in the territory, stated that in order to promote and control everything that has to do with preventing the appearance of these ailments and their complications, in the territory all health units, whether family doctors’ offices, emergency services, rehabilitation services, among others.
“High blood pressure is the most important risk factor for heart diseases, which rank first nationally and internationally in both morbidity and mortality, hence the need to take measures to care for the heart.” This year the motto is Know Your Heart Through Pressure, she explained.
“The family doctor must follow up on chronic patients at least three times a year. From home, actions can be taken such as avoiding excess salt, smoking and alcoholic beverages, eating a healthy diet, doing physical exercises for at least 150 minutes weekly, check the cholesterol level and sleep well” argued Bernal Guevara.
