Exclusive breastfeeding must become an obligation during the first months of the child’s life, say directors of the Health sector in the municipality of Morón in Ciego de Avila, regarding the day that for such purposes is developed globally.
They value this feeding for the baby as very positive, because when a child feeds on his mother’s breast he will not suffer from some diseases, which would imply expenses in resources, medicines and hospitalization.
Breastfeeding is included in the objectives of the 2020-2030 agenda for sustainable development, it is exclusive in the first six months, but it can last up to two years, specialists say.
To be successful in such an effort, the support of the family, workplaces, health institutions and communities is necessary.
The World Breastfeeding Day is not a goal, it aspires to a greater benefit for the newborn, its mother and the health system, the experts considered.
