The development of tourism in the Jardines del Rey archipelago, to the north of the Avilanian municipality of Morón, has brought with it the inevitable affectation of this rich ecosystem due to the action of man, a reality that, however, attempts are being made to limit and even reverse it through application of effective measures.
According to statements by Daylon Fundora Caballero, a specialist from the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment in Ciego de Ávila, the construction of hotels and other facilities in the area causes this effect despite the fact that an environmental impact study and the corresponding license is granted.
Precisely, the Paredón Grande key is an example in this sense due to its level of vulnerability and the hotel development that is expected for it, a situation in which alternatives are sought that reduce the possible effects on biodiversity such as the creation of nurseries with plants autochthonous on the same islet for planting on both sides of the roads.
These are measures that seek to preserve a nature that is necessary for tourism development and that, at the same time, advocate guaranteeing a sustainable tourism industry in harmony with the environment, precepts inherent to Tarea Vida and that operate in favor of retarding or reverse the effects of climate change.
