The first 6.5 kilometers of the new Turiguanó-La Bandera drinking water pipeline, which will guarantee the service in the Jardines del Rey tourist hub, have use value with benefits greater than the volume that was delivered by the network that is still in operation.

Epifanio Núñez Arias, director of investments in the provincial delegation of Hydraulic Resources, specified to the Cuban News Agency that since July 10 the conveyance of the liquid through that section to the northern keys of Ciego de Ávila goes through high-density polyethylene pipes of 800 millimeters (mm) in diameter, unlike the previous one that was transferred through a 500-mm fiberglass pipe.

He explained that this section includes the new bypass (diversion in the pipe line) now 630 mm in diameter, before it was 200 mm, which allows direct circulation of water from the Patria III and Los Satos pumping stations to La Bandera, south of Cayo Coco.

He pointed out that Los Satos, with four wells and three installed pumps, contributes a flow of 220 liters per second (l/s), which added to the 130 l/s of the Patria III fountain, is the 350 l/s that Jardines del Rey will require when it completes the hotel development plan planned until 2030, which is for 24,000 rooms.

To date, Núñez Arias pointed out, what has been carried out also benefits the communities en route: Celia Sánchez (known as the Dutch people) and Turiguanó.
