Every year the tourist destination Jardines del Rey, to the north of Ciego de Ávila, witnesses the Jardines del Rey Big Game Trolling International Sport Fishing Tournament, an event that ranks among the most important recreational nautical events in Cuba, and for which The Branch of the Marina Marlin in Cayo Guillermo is already preparing itself in order to guarantee success.

Osvaldo González Pérez, director of this non-hotel institution, assured that there are already some confirmed teams, which exceeds the forecasts for the stage, although they intend to reach up to 10 teams, which would set a new participation record and consolidate them as an excellent place in the country in this type of event.

In the Jardines del Rey International Sport Fishing Tournament, professionals or fans related to sport fishing and lovers of these practices, integrated or not to clubs and federations, can participate and are governed by the rules of the International Federation of Sport Fishing, through the tag and release system for the purpose of protecting the marine environment.

This is one of the three major international events sponsored by the Marina Marlin Jardines del Rey branch in the northern keys of Ciego de Ávila, an area that has exceptional qualities for this type of activity due to the beauty of the seabed, the variety of species and beauty of its beaches, characteristics that each year attract several teams from around the world.

The International Currican Mayor (Big Game Trolling) Sport Fishing Tournament will take place on the beautiful island of Cayo Guillermo, located in Jardines del Rey, Cuba, from October 25 to 30.

The organizers have selected a fishing area of up to 5 miles North-Northeast between Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, which is known to be a rich fishing area of the Old Channel of the Bahamas, where you can find various species of marlin such as Fantail, Casteros, White Marlin, Wahoo and Dorados.
