Guaranteeing the quality of services in the summer season, when a greater presence of nationals is added to the influx of foreign visitors, is the purpose of the tourism sector in Ciego de Ávila, immersed in the gradual recovery, as evidenced by the reception this year of a number of foreign visitors that is equivalent to 92 percent of those received in 2019, according to details from Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the province.

Directors of the sector and insurance organizations met at the Pullman Hotel, in Cayo Coco, to evaluate the state of the insurance with a view to the stage that begins on the 1st. of July.

The words of Alfredo Sanz Rodríguez, coordinator of agriculture for the attention to tourism in Ciego de Ávila; Ricardo Varona Pestana, director of the La Cuba Agricultural Company, and Luis Alberto Nieves Surí, general director of the Turiguanó Genetic Livestock Company, had as a common denominator the recognition of the difficulties that this year have affected the fulfillment of the commitments and the gradual improvement that has been seen in recent months.

Liván Izquierdo Alonso, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary here, appreciated that the appreciation from the municipalities, entities and individual producers is still limited, there is still a lack of full understanding that “it is not just about fulfilling the commitments with the tourism, because this also represents a solid opportunity for local and territorial development”.

In this sense, the potential of the municipalities is far from being exhausted, since the process of rehiring agricultural productions that the Provincial Collection Company assumes, should mean an increase in the contributions to consumption of both the population and tourists. , considered Izquierdo Alonso.

The attendees also analyzed the prospects for the delivery of dairy products, fish, sugar, rum and mini-doses, in the midst of a complex situation that includes difficulties with the importation of inputs and with the available technology.
