The territorial sub-delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment, CITMA, in Ciego de Ávila, works to reach a higher stage in terms of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources, as well as increasing awareness citizen from an environmental point of view.
According to the statements of the Master of Science Zulima Díaz Monte, representative of the CITMA Capacity Building Center in Ciudad del Gallo, through said strategy, confrontation with the impacts of climate change is ensured with the aim of improving the quality of life of the population.
Among the specific objectives, work is being done to guarantee the conservation of ecosystems, the mitigation of environmental problems that affect the municipality, and the effective application of environmental policy and management instruments as supports in decision-making in the different instances.
The Municipal Environmental Strategy for the period 2021-2925 is the governing document of the environmental policy in the territory, and establishes the principles to integrate efforts, evaluate results and establish priorities, with a view to improving the protection of the environment, the quality of life and the rational use of natural resources.
