The hotel facilities that are part of the Jardines del Rey tourist destination show a persevering work based on the care of the ecosystems where they are located, with the aim of achieving the construction of a tourism in harmony with the environment, and with it the recognition environment that guarantees its sustainability.
This is how Rolando Barroso Vargas, an environmental specialist from the territorial sub-delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment in Ciego de Ávila, values it, adding that there are several hotels that already have this recognition thanks to their sustained work based on the implementation of the Life Task.
Among those that have made the most progress in this regard, the Meliá Cayo Coco, the Iberostar Playa Pilar and the Pulman Cayo Coco Hotel stand out, the latter with the added value of also having the Planet 21 program, conceived by the Accor group, whose purpose is achieve a higher level of awareness around the protection of nature among workers and customers.
The rich biodiversity of the northern Avilanian keys has been affected in the last 30 years due to the tourism development experienced in the area, however, safe steps are already being taken for its recovery, a task on which the future of tourism depends a lot in Cuba.
