After a complex repair process, which led to the execution of overtime and the search for solutions with local alternatives, workers from Talleres Ferroviarios Enrique Varona, from Morón, left locomotive 51-218 ready for operation.
Tania Estrella González Sosa, Deputy Director of the East Center Division in Ciego de Ávila, recognized the dedication and willingness of the group of young people who assumed the responsibility of repairing that equipment that had serious breaks due to years of exploitation.
The leader pointed out that the work led to exhaustion and the search for solutions, which means that this small group put their heart into achieving success, and they achieved it.
Locomotive 51218 has already entered into operation and fulfills important missions in the transfer of cargo and passengers and now Talleres Ferroviarios in Morón is committed to repairing another machine in similar conditions, 50-921.
On a recent visit to Morón, the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, visited the Railway Workshops where he learned about the efforts to complete the work on said locomotive and congratulated the young Alexander García Ortiz, who despite his youth has been on the railway for 11 years. .
The young man explained to the Minister that they had been working on it for several months, but that it is almost ready and that he himself had been in charge of painting it.
