With the construction of a photovoltaic solar park with an installed power of four Megawatts (MW), which covers between 35 and 40 percent of the municipality’s electrical demand, Morón is inserted within the vanguard territories in the use of renewable energy sources .
According to the execution schedule, the synchronization to the National Electric System (SEN) will be at the end of the current month, which will mean a daily saving of five tons of fuel for the country.
This will be added to what the other three parks installed in the province of Ciego de Ávila in the municipalities of Venezuela, Chambas and Ceballos currently provide, with a total power of 11.6 MW.
According to statements by Dainier López Chávez, highest representative of the Integrated Project Management (DIP), assembly is 90 percent complete. “A construction sequence carried out by specialists and workers from MICONS, UCM, RENSOL and COPEXTEL will allow Chinese technology to provide clean and sustainable energy to the SEN in three months,” he said.
The park is located in a technological complex near a 110 thousand volt substation and a diesel distributed generation group. This substation has a high level of overload due to the sustained growth of the city of Morón (second in importance in terms of number of clients in the province) and has been in operation for more than 40 years. Hence the importance of the investment, especially during peak daytime hours.
This is how Daniel Pérez García, general director of the Ciego de Ávila Electric Company, expresses it: “this installation is part of the investments prioritized by the electricity sector this year for the use of renewable sources, with the objective that in 2030 the energies Clean energy represents 29 percent of the national energy matrix.
“In this sense, the construction of another 20 MW photovoltaic park is in progress in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila near the town of Grego. At this time, technical studies, soil analysis, marabou cleaning are being carried out, and the “El Vaquerito” Military Construction Company is already on the ground to begin earthworks.”
Similar to this project, which is in the completion phase and covers about 6 hectares of the South Popular Council of Morón, two other parks are being built in the provinces of Villa Clara and Holguín, both with a 4 MW capacity.
