The museum of the sugar agro-industry is a must-see within the Popular Council of Patria, in the municipality of Morón, in Ciego de Avila, if you want to know the particularities of an economic activity that means something more than tradition and culture in the Greater Antilles .
José Ángel Sierra, director of the institution, defined it with these words, who explained that the genesis of this entity is part of the closure of a certain number of power plants in the country, after which the National Directorate of Heritage decided to take advantage of the installed capacities in order to publicize the history of the sugar agro-industry.
In this way, museums of this type were established near tourist poles such as Varadero, Cayo Santa María, Trinidad and Jardines de Rey that contribute with their work to investigate and safeguard the historical-cultural heritage of the Cuban people to offer it to travelers who arrive at these facilities from other latitudes.
Currently, the so-called Sugar Museum, in the community of Patria, has become one of the most original non-hotel attractions for the thousands of visitors who arrive at the Jardines del Rey destination, and its management allows visitors to discover a culture that during several centuries it has formed part of the identity of the Cuban people.
