The Center for Environmental Bioengineering and Biodiversity of Ciego de Ávila, a scientific entity located in the municipality of Morón, plays a leading role in advising local development projects in the territory, especially those dedicated to food production, therefore which pays directly to the Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education program.
This was considered one of the main results of the institution during the previous year, which remains one of its priorities for 2023, according to the Master of Science Yamilé Jiménez Peña, director of the center, who added that these actions contribute to strengthening capacities in the private sector based on productive chains.
Among the local development projects benefited from the work of CIBA, the production of animal and human food based on local solutions stands out, by the young producer from Morón, Endris Raña Sánchez, an associate of the Sanguilí Rescue Credit and Services Cooperative, which was approved by the Council of the Municipal Administration in the year 2022.
This is an initiative that will allow, in the short term, the creation of capacities for the intensive breeding of the dark-coated pig, which should become an essential element for the diet of the people of Morón, and that validates the management of the Environmental Bioengineering Center and Biodiversity of Ciego de Ávila in favor of the economic development of the Ciudad del Gallo.
