Encouraging love for nature, particularly flora, is the purpose of the Plant Festival, an initiative carried out monthly by the Luces de mi Patria children’s house, located in the Avilanian municipality of Morón.

Jeanna González Milián, director of that Primary Education institution, explained that the activity consists of a sample of varieties of plants, generally ornamental, grown by children and their parents in recycled plastic containers in homes.

This activity allows us to promote a green space on that campus that is attended by infants and educators; and is combined with other cultural options such as presentations of drawings, interpretations of songs, poetry recitals and reading of allegorical stories about caring for the environment.

González Milián stressed that an ideal space is created to promote environmental culture, both in children and in their parents and teachers, in addition to constituting an opportunity to consolidate unity between that school and families, in accordance with the principles of improvement of the educational sector.

The educator Adanlys Espinosa Castillo explained that with the plants exhibited on this occasion they will increase the Nature Corner, where they have numerous species that are cared for by the children, as part of their daily activities.
