Among the results obtained in the project on danger, vulnerability and risk to phytosanitary disasters developed by the Center for Environmental Engineering and Biodiversity of Ciego de Ávila, CIBA, an institution located in the municipality of Morón, highlights the establishment of risks and vulnerabilities for each popular council of the ten municipalities of the province.
The study of the Biological Risk Objectives constituted one of the most important results of the project by establishing the danger potential that these sites pose for Avilanian agriculture, said Javier González García, deputy director of investigations of this center and person in charge of the study.
The research will have a great impact for agriculture in the province, since it will generate a program of measures aimed at correcting the errors that this economic activity presents today in order to more effectively control possible pests and other risks that may affect the main crops.
Once the project is completed, Avilanian agriculture will have a new work tool aimed at guaranteeing its protection against possible dangers that may affect it, thus reducing its vulnerabilities and risks in the face of disasters that, in the end, would also affect the diet of the people. and the country’s economy.
