Benefit coastal dunes on the north coast

Radio Surco August 16, 2019

Specialists from the Center for Bio-Food Research, CIBA, located in the municipality of Morón, contribute to the preservation of beach dunes in Jardines del Rey. To do this, they experimentally attend the space between the Pullman and Meliá Cayo Coco hotels, which exceeds 1,000 meters.

Rafael Pérez Carmenate, territorial delegate of Science, Technology and Environment, said that they also repopulated with plants obtained in nursery about seventy square meters of the Sol Cayo Coco hotel and more than one hundred and thirty in the Iberostar Mojito.

The coast mate and the maritime suriana are the two most used seedlings in the purpose, which also includes the eradication of invasive alien species such as casuarinas and leucaenas in the Las Coloradas beach sector.

The experts of the Avilanian Bioalimentos center insist on the project on coastal dunes because of its impact on the preservation of ecosystems in less eroded spas.
