Affects blocking services in Morón hospital

Héctor Izquierdo Acuña September 20, 2019

The economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States against Cuba continues among the main causes that affect the medical care provided by Roberto Rodríguez General Teaching Hospital, in the Avignon municipality of Morón.

Luis Antonio Rodríguez Sánchez, Doctor of Medical Sciences and pharmacologist of the center, said there are advanced products for the detection of cancer such as the liquid biopsy technique, which the country cannot access due to its high cost and being a US patent.

Another important difficulty is the acquisition of diagnostic means, such as ultrasound equipment for the clinical area, which have several years of exploitation, and have not been able to be replaced due to the limitations imposed by the blockage.

The policy against the Cuban people is more cruel and genocidal, considering that the affectations are even more sensitive when it comes to hematological patients and children, whose treatments are difficult because they do not have novel drugs.
