In parallel, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, CITMA, in the territory, draws lines of work that allow the gradual adaptation to climate change, including conducting post-event assessments in order to determine the impacts of extreme events in the dunes of the beaches, and evaluate the changes in the profiles of these ecosystems.
Another research project, headed by the Bioaliments Research Center, CIBA, of Morón, is linked to the protection of sources of water supply in the hydrogeological sector CA-1-5 in the Northern Basin of the province of Ciego de Ávila, with the purpose of adapting to the consequences of the global climatic phenomenon.
Likewise, within the actions of the Task Life in the territory, the CIBA also contemplates the execution of the Project of Rehabilitation of Dunes in the coastal zone, foreseen for its culmination in 2020.
The maintenance of the Estero Socorro dam is another of the activities included in the necessary adaptation strategy, a task that will be carried out on this occasion by the TRANSFER and the Hydraulic Utilization Company, which is expected to be undertaken in 2022.
